Head of Pharmacy – Lead Pharmacy Department

About the role

The Head of Pharmacy will lead the Pharmacy Department at CARE Hospitals and Clinics in Makkah, ensuring high‑quality medication services for both in‑patients and out‑patients. This senior position is responsible for strategic planning, budget oversight, and maintaining compliance with national accreditation standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement pharmacy policies, procedures, and quality‑assurance programs aligned with JCIA and CBAHI standards.
• Plan, schedule, and direct pharmacy staff to meet hospital objectives and patient care goals.
• Lead recruitment, orientation, and continuous professional development for all pharmacy personnel.
• Prepare and manage the pharmacy operating budget, monitor financial performance, and produce required budget reports.
• Monitor departmental performance metrics, drive improvement initiatives, and chair departmental meetings.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for medication preparation, dispensing, and documentation.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in a hospital pharmacy setting.
• Strong knowledge of Saudi healthcare regulations and accreditation standards (JCIA, CBAHI).
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and allocate resources effectively.
• Excellent communication skills for staff mentorship and interdisciplinary collaboration.
