Health and Safety Officer

About the role

The Health and Safety Officer will ensure a safe working environment across all project sites, supporting the QHSE Manager and procurement teams. The role involves direct interaction with contractors, clients, and internal stakeholders to enforce HSE standards and drive a zero‑harm culture.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and enforce HSE compliance on‑site, providing guidance, training and toolbox talks to employees and contractors.
• Review and approve contractor HSE pre‑qualification, method statements, risk assessments, emergency plans and work permits.
• Document HSE management systems in line with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 50001:2011, OHSAS 18001:2007 / ISO 45001:2018.
• Conduct regular site inspections, safety checks, and emergency drills; report violations and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop, implement and update evacuation plans, pandemic illness procedures and COSHH assessments.
• Coordinate monthly HSE committee meetings, maintain incident registers and ensure proper PPE usage.
• Serve as on‑call emergency contact, available outside regular hours as needed.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and OHSAS 18001 standards.
• Ability to work flexibly, including on‑call availability for emergencies.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, contractors and senior management.
