Lab Equipment Maintenance Engineer/Specialist - Lasers and Electronics

About the role

The Lab Equipment Maintenance Engineer/Specialist – Lasers and Electronics provides expert service and support for high‑tech laboratory research equipment. The role involves field‑service repairs, preventive maintenance, calibrations and alignments of laser research systems, while mentoring junior staff and delivering user training.

Key responsibilities

• Build functional relationships with manufacturers of ultra‑fast and other laser systems.
• Respond promptly to maintenance, calibration, alignment and troubleshooting requests.
• Coordinate with end‑users to schedule equipment service and ensure minimal downtime.
• Diagnose problems in collaboration with operators, manufacturers and vendors, and implement appropriate solutions.
• Identify required spare parts and manage the ordering process.
• Prepare accurate, grammatically correct service reports and maintain field service records.
• Provide preventative maintenance training and occasional value‑added user sessions.
• Comply with all HSE and KAUST safety policies and report safety concerns.
• Work extended hours when needed and collaborate with Lab Equipment Maintenance Leads.
