Lead Corrosion Engineer

About the role

The Lead Corrosion Engineer will drive the implementation of SASREF’s corrosion control strategy. Working on‑site at the refinery, you will analyse survey data, monitor equipment corrosion and ensure compliance with safety, reliability and environmental requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Review process parameters and plant performance to identify corrosion/erosion issues and support production teams.
• Define data collection methodology, templates and coordinate with inspectors for accurate survey data.
• Analyse high corrosion rate trends, determine root causes and adjust Inspection Operating Windows (IOWs) accordingly.
• Provide expert support for complex corrosion cases, including detailed root‑cause analysis and liaison with external specialists.
• Maintain and update Corrosion Control Manuals (RBI reports) for all operating units.
• Lead discussions with SPIRIT teams to ensure implementation of RBI recommendations.
• Review Management of Change (MOC) documents for corrosion and metallurgy implications.
• Participate in project reviews, commissioning and start‑up of new corrosion monitoring systems.
• Develop and follow up on inspection strategies for static equipment as part of the integrity management system.
• Collaborate with engineering groups on facility modifications, chemical treatment processes and injection applications.

Required profile

• Full‑time availability.
• Minimum 120 months (10 years) of experience in corrosion engineering, preferably in oil and gas or refinery environments.
• Proven ability to work closely with inspection teams and external specialists.
• Experience with RBI methodology, IOW management and MOC reviews.
