Mechanical Design Engineer (HVAC)

About the role

Eram Talent is recruiting a Design Engineer - Mechanical for a position based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The engineer designs, plans and reviews technical packages for mechanical and HVAC systems, including chillers, pumps, motors, air handling units, cooling tower cells and refrigerant management systems, and carries out technical assessments and feasibility studies for upgrading or modifying existing facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Design, plan and develop HVAC and mechanical systems for new and existing projects, and prepare conceptual designs, technical assessments and engineering documentation.
• Review design drawings, material selections and technical submittals for compliance with project requirements.
• Develop Scope of Work, Bill of Quantities and system specifications for HVAC projects.
• Perform HVAC load calculations, duct sizing and equipment selection using design software.
• Carry out technical evaluations and feasibility studies for system upgrades or modifications, and provide technical reports and recommendations.
• Act as technical authority for mechanical design and coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
• Provide technical support during installation and commissioning, and collaborate with consultants and contractors.
• Ensure designs comply with international codes such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, IBC, ANSI, ASME, ASTM, ARI, SAES and SAMSS, and maintain design documentation.
• Support the Engineering Manager in monitoring capital project designs and performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5-6 years of experience in mechanical systems and HVAC design on large-scale or industrial projects.
• Strong understanding of HVAC principles, heat load calculations, duct sizing and equipment selection.
• Excellent written and spoken English; strong analytical, problem-solving and coordination skills.
• Detail-oriented, able to work independently and manage multiple priorities under deadlines.

• HAP, Carrier, AutoCAD and Revit MEP
• MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA, ASME and other mechanical design standards
