Mortuary Technician

About the role

The Mortuary Technician ensures dignified, safe, and hygienic handling of deceased patients within the hospital morgue. Working under the Admission & Discharge division, the role follows Ministry of Health infection‑control protocols and maintains strict chain‑of‑custody documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Receive bodies from clinical wards, verify dual‑identifier tags and record chain of custody in the Morgue Register.
• Monitor and log temperature and humidity of cold chambers, reporting any deviations immediately.
• Coordinate terminal cleaning and disinfection of storage units, hydraulic lifts and surfaces using hospital‑grade agents.
• Apply MOH precautions (shrouding/bagging) for high‑risk infectious bodies such as COVID‑19 or MERS.
• Assist forensic authorities with body identification and sample preservation for police cases.
• Release bodies to families or municipal services in a respectful manner.

Required profile

• Diploma or Associate Degree in a relevant field.
• Valid SCFHS registration.
• 0‑2 years of experience in health‑care settings.
• Advanced Arabic and intermediate English language skills.
