Safety Technician

About the role

The Safety Technician supports the implementation of health, safety, fire prevention, and environmental programs across assigned hospitals and centers. Working closely with all departments, the role ensures a safe environment for patients, visitors, staff, contractors, and assets.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine safety inspections of buildings, clinical areas, offices, workshops, warehouses, and utility plants, reporting unsafe conditions and tracking corrective actions.
• Inspect fire extinguishers, hose reels, emergency exits, fire doors, and alarm systems; assist with fire drills and maintain fire safety records.
• Monitor proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and promote safe work practices among employees and contractors.
• Assist in investigating accidents, injuries, property damage, and near‑misses, collecting evidence, interviewing participants, and preparing reports.
• Oversee contractor safety compliance, conduct safety inductions, and verify use of PPE and safe procedures.
• Participate in emergency response activities, support evacuation procedures, and ensure emergency equipment is operational.
• Inspect hazardous material storage areas, maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) accessibility, and help deliver chemical safety training.

Required profile

• Ability to perform routine safety inspections and follow‑up on corrective actions.
• Capability to assist in fire‑safety inspections, drills, and documentation.
• Experience monitoring PPE usage and promoting safe work practices.
• Skill in supporting incident investigations and maintaining accurate safety records.
• Competence in overseeing contractor safety compliance and conducting inductions.
• Readiness to participate in emergency response and evacuation procedures.
• Knowledge of hazardous material handling and MSDS management.
