Senior Field Service Engineer

About the role

ABB is looking for a Senior Field Service Engineer to lead the installation, commissioning, maintenance and support of its low‑voltage (LV) and medium‑voltage (MV) drive solutions for industrial customers. The role reports to the Service Manager and involves extensive field work on a variety of ABB drive platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Check installation and commission new LV ABB drives (ACS880, ACS580, ACS800, ACS550, ACSM1, DCS500, ACS350, etc.) for ongoing industrial projects and report results to customers and internal teams.
• Service faulty MV and LV drives, order and replace defective parts such as boards, IGBTs and thyristors, and manage warranty cases.
• Perform preventive maintenance on a wide range of ABB drives, both LV and MV.
• Size, select and configure drives and optional software based on customer machine requirements and control schemes.
• Use ABB software tools (Drive Window, Drive Window Light, Drive Studio) for configuration and diagnostics.
• Report customer satisfaction, claims, recommendations and technical issues to business‑unit management.
• Promote ABB drive products and contribute to sales growth.
• Engineer system interfaces for drive upgrades, retrofits and new installations.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting of medium‑voltage variable‑frequency drives.

Required profile

• Certified experience with ABB medium‑voltage variable‑frequency drives (ACS6000, ACS1000, ACS2000, ACS5000, ACS580 MV, etc.).
• Ability to work under pressure and travel to remote industrial sites.
• Strong analytical skills for failure testing and root‑cause analysis.

Required skills

• Installation and commissioning of ABB LV and MV drives.
• Preventive maintenance and fault diagnosis of VFDs.
• Root‑cause analysis and troubleshooting of medium‑voltage drives.
• Sizing, selection and configuration of drives using ABB software (Drive Window, Drive Studio).
• Ordering and replacement of drive components (boards, IGBTs, thyristors).
• Engineering system interfaces for drive upgrades and retrofits.
