Senior GL Accountant – Saudi Arabia

About the role

We are seeking a Senior GL Accountant to lead the general ledger and financial reporting functions for our operations in Saudi Arabia. The role reports to the Chief Accountant and ensures accurate, timely, and compliant accounting across all statutory and group requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are correctly classified, posted, and supported.
• Prepare recurring, accrual, pre‑payment, depreciation, provision, re‑classification and adjustment journals with full documentation.
• Execute monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations, investigate and clear reconciling items promptly.
• Support month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close activities, meeting the approved timetable.
• Produce trial balance analyses, account schedules, movement analyses and audit files for management and external auditors.
• Record and reconcile inter‑company transactions, including foreign‑currency balances and settlement differences.
• Assist with fixed assets, leases, provisions, payroll entries, inventory/WIP interfaces and project accounting.
• Ensure compliance with Group accounting policies, IFRS and local statutory regulations.
• Maintain clean audit trails in Odoo/ERP and coordinate with sub‑ledger owners to resolve issues.
• Review junior accountants’ work, provide technical guidance and act as escalation point for complex items.

Required profile

• Strong background in general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
• In‑depth knowledge of IFRS and Saudi Arabian statutory accounting requirements.
• Experience with month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end closing processes.
• Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines and maintain high accuracy.
