About the role
We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to lead legal matters for our operations in Kuwait and the broader GCC region. The role will provide strategic advice on commercial transactions, regulatory compliance and dispute resolution across retail, logistics, warehousing and related business units.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and deliver comprehensive advice on transactions, joint ventures, franchising and licensing across Kuwait and the GCC.
- Draft, review and negotiate contracts and legal documents in English and Arabic, ensuring compliance with Kuwaiti and international laws.
- Advise on compliance with Kuwaiti statutes, identify legal risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Support business and GA teams in obtaining licences and permits for retail, logistics, warehousing and other operations.
- Collaborate with senior management and business units to ensure legal requirements are met in all activities.
- Facilitate communication with Kuwaiti authorities and external stakeholders to maintain a business‑friendly regulatory environment.
- Represent the company in legal proceedings, negotiations and dispute‑resolution forums.
- Monitor changes in Kuwaiti and GCC legal landscapes and proactively inform internal stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain a high‑quality network of external law firms and advisors in Kuwait.
- Work with the global legal team to ensure consistent legal frameworks and compliance standards across jurisdictions.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in law (advanced degree preferred).
- Minimum 7 years of legal experience, including at least 5 years practicing in Kuwait.
- Deep knowledge of Kuwaiti corporate, contract, commercial, labour law and regulatory frameworks for foreign‑invested enterprises.
- Fluent Arabic and English (written and spoken).
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication abilities.
- Proven ability to manage complex legal projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with Kuwaiti regulatory authorities, licensing procedures and government approvals.
- Experience in retail, logistics, warehousing or food‑delivery sectors, with understanding of supply‑chain and merchant contracts.
