Senior Psychiatry Registrar

About the role

Providing specialized medical care and treatment to patients with psychiatric disorders, including comprehensive evaluations, treatment planning, and evidence‑based interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, mental status examinations, and diagnostic assessments.
• Utilize standardized assessment tools and rating scales to monitor symptom severity and treatment response.
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications such as antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, and anxiolytics.
• Deliver individual, group, and family psychotherapy using CBT, DBT, IPT and other evidence‑based modalities.
• Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and risk assessment for acute psychiatric emergencies.
• Collaborate with primary care providers, psychologists, social workers and other professionals to ensure coordinated care.

Required profile

• Medical degree with completion of an accredited psychiatry residency program.
• More than 8 years of relevant clinical experience.
• Eligible for registration/licensure in Saudi Arabia.

Required skills

• Use of rating scales and standardized assessment tools.
• Supportive counseling and psychoeducation.
• Cognitive‑behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).
• Prescribing and therapeutic drug monitoring of psychotropic medications.
• Family psychotherapy and interpersonal therapy (IPT).
• Management of mood stabilizers, anxiolytics, antidepressants, and antipsychotics.
• Crisis intervention and safety planning.
• Electronic health records (EHR) documentation.
