Senior Specialist – Fabrication & Welding

About the role

The Senior Specialist – Fabrication & Welding will work in the Prototype Shop Center (PTS) to manufacture and modify prototype parts and vehicles. Reporting to lead specialists, the role is fully workshop‑based and requires hands‑on execution of fabrication and welding tasks to meet strict engineering tolerances.

Key responsibilities

• Support lead specialists in producing components, test rigs, jigs and fixtures required for prototype development.
• Interpret engineering drawings and select appropriate materials for each project.
• Perform sub‑assembly operations on vehicle systems and ensure tight engineering tolerances.
• Carry out Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) on fabrication equipment.
• Provide technical advice on material feasibility and welding processes.
• Assist other PTS departments when needed, ensuring seamless workshop operations.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 + years of hands‑on experience in a manufacturing, fabrication or welding environment.
• Technical qualification such as a Fabrication and Welding certification, apprenticeship or diploma.
• Physical fitness to work in a 100 % workshop setting.
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and data.
• Effective communication in English, both spoken and written.

Required skills

• MIG and TIG welding on ferrous and non‑ferrous metals (0.6 mm‑15 mm).
• Angle grinding, drilling, tapping, tube bending, laser cutting, and metal forming.
• Press brake operation, metal finishing, and bench work.
• 3D CAD systems for design verification.
• Material and weld testing, vehicle fitting, and car body repair.
• Automotive manufacturing and motorsport experience.
