Steel Welding Inspector – Bridges

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Steel Welding Inspector to lead inspection and quality assurance for bridge steel fabrication, welding and erection on major infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect welded components such as girders, diaphragms, stiffeners and connections against drawings, specifications and material certificates.
• Review and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) and welder qualification records.
• Conduct pre‑welding, in‑process and post‑welding inspections, verifying joint preparation, fit‑up, root gaps, bevel angles and consumable handling.
• Coordinate and witness NDT activities (UT, MT, PT, RT) and ensure proper repair of identified defects.
• Raise Non‑Conformance Reports, monitor corrective actions and ensure traceability of weld identification throughout fabrication and erection.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Diploma in Mechanical, Welding, Metallurgy, Civil/Structural Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in steel fabrication, welding inspection and quality control, preferably on bridge or highway projects.
• Recognised welding inspection certification (e.g., CSWIP 3.1/3.2, AWS CWI) is highly preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with welding processes: SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, SAW.
• Knowledge of welding codes and standards: AWS, ASTM, ASME, ISO, EN, AASHTO.
• Familiarity with NDT methods: UT, MT, PT, RT.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and shop drawings, welding symbols, WPS/PQR documents.
