Terminal Operations Controller

About the role

We are looking for a Controller to supervise daily operations at a container terminal, ensuring that crane and yard movements are efficiently supported by the right equipment and manpower. The role focuses on optimizing resource utilization and meeting productivity targets.

Key responsibilities

• Assign and activate quay cranes and deploy additional equipment upon vessel arrival.
• Plan and segregate equipment based on crane assignments, planned moves, and loading locations.
• Deploy equipment for heavy block handling and closely monitor the operation.
• Coordinate delivery and receipt of blocks with the Operations Supervisor to reduce yard congestion.
• Monitor truck turnaround times and equipment utilization to achieve KPI and reduce fuel costs.
• Oversee customs clearing, lay‑down, and scanning activities for smooth flow.
• Continuously monitor crane sequences with Vessel and Yard Planners and adjust to avoid clashes.
• Work with Reefer Technicians during loading/discharging and assign work orders to operators.
• Prepare shift monitoring reports and maintain hourly move reports to meet performance targets.
• Record incidents or accidents and report them promptly while adhering to SOPs for safety.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience in container terminal operations.
• College or bachelor’s degree.
• Strong knowledge of vessel, yard, and customs activities.
• Understanding of terminal operating systems and dispatching processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Navis Sparc.
• Proficiency with N4.
• Experience using Terminal Operating Systems (TOS).
