Testing & Commissioning Engineer (HV Substations)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Testing & Commissioning Engineer to lead the commissioning of high‑voltage (HV/EHV) substations ranging from 13.8 kV to 380 kV. You will work closely with clients, consultants and project teams to ensure safe, on‑time energisation of critical power infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Perform testing and commissioning of HV/EHV substations, including power transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear, circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches, CTs and VTs/CVTs.
• Carry out protection relay testing, secondary and primary injection tests, and configure SCADA and communication systems.
• Execute transformer tests such as TTR, winding resistance, insulation resistance and functional checks.
• Verify interlocks, control logic, protection schemes and support energisation and synchronisation activities.
• Troubleshoot equipment and system issues during commissioning and prepare detailed procedures, test reports and punch‑lists.
• Coordinate with all project stakeholders, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and produce daily, weekly and final commissioning reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5–10 years of experience in HV substation testing and commissioning.
• Hands‑on experience with AIS/GIS substations up to 380 kV.
• Strong analytical thinking, safety awareness and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
