Back Office PS Core Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Back Office PS Core Engineer to design, configure, optimise and troubleshoot Ericsson Packet Core solutions in EPC and 5G Core environments. The role supports high‑availability mobile broadband services and works closely with planning, operations and cross‑functional engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily health checks and alarm monitoring on Ericsson PS Core nodes (MME, EPG, PCC/PCG, SAPC, SMF/UPF, NEF, ESOA).
• Troubleshoot network faults, capacity constraints and performance degradation.
• Manage subscriber sessions, PDP contexts, bearer handling and IMSI tracing.
• Implement APNs, IMSI ranges, rating groups and QoS profiles; configure PCC rules and policy objects (PDR/QER/FAR/URR).
• Support PCRF/SAPC configurations and DNS/NAPTR/SRV settings for IMS and EPC services.
• Integrate new PS Core nodes, including virtualised and cloud‑based EPG, MME and UPF deployments.
• Plan and execute software upgrades, patches and capacity expansions.
• Analyse KPIs such as attach success, bearer setup, handover success, latency and throughput.
• Develop scripts for log parsing, KPI analysis and operational automation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
• 4–8 years of experience in PS Core, EPC or 5G Core networks.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and incident‑management capabilities.
• Good communication and documentation skills.

Required skills

• Ericsson PS Core (SGSN‑MME, EPG, PCC/PCG, SAPC, DRA, SMF/UPF).
• Understanding of 2G/3G/4G/5G call flows and session management.
• Protocols: GTP‑C/U, Diameter, Radius, HTTP/2, SIP, SCTP, TCP/UDP/IP.
• Ericsson CLI, ENM, ENIQ, Wireshark.
• Scripting: Bash, Python.
• Cloud‑native technologies: Kubernetes, Docker, OpenStack, VMware (nice‑to‑have).
