Chief Accountant – Finance & Operations

About the role

The Chief Accountant will lead the accounting function for operations and maintenance projects, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance. This senior position requires strong business acumen, interpersonal skills, and the ability to drive efficiency across the finance team.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily accounting operations for O&M projects.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Monitor project costs, budgets and expenditures to ensure financial efficiency.
• Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations and general ledger transactions.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and fixed assets.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, tax regulations and statutory requirements.
• Coordinate with project managers to monitor project profitability and financial performance.
• Prepare cash‑flow forecasts and monitor working‑capital requirements.
• Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
• Develop and improve accounting procedures and internal financial controls.
• Analyze financial data and recommend improvements for operational efficiency and cost control.
• Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering high performance and professional development.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Professional certification such as SOCPA, CPA, ACCA or CMA preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Experience in Operations & Maintenance, facilities management or contracting companies is highly preferred.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of IFRS financial reporting standards.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics or similar).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
