Control Systems Engineer

About the role

The Control Systems Engineer will lead the design, integration, testing and maintenance of train control systems, ensuring safe and reliable rail operations. You will work closely with internal design teams, external suppliers and the client to deliver ATC/CBTC solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Support review of client specifications and generation of technical specifications.
• Oversee vendor RFPs, selection and technical oversight of vendor designs and submittals.
• Coordinate system integration across signalling, rolling stock, telecom and power subsystems.
• Develop and execute Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
• Lead systems‑engineering activities through concept, design, integration, commissioning and maintenance.
• Manage requirements, interface and configuration management in line with ISO/IEC 15288 and CENELEC EN 50126/50128/50129.
• Identify and mitigate system‑level risks and support RAMS activities.
• Monitor and troubleshoot control‑system operations, performing root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in railway or mass‑transit control‑system engineering.
• Familiarity with railway safety standards (EN 50126/50128/50129) and system life‑cycle processes.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• ATC, CBTC, SCADA and interlocking system design.
• ISO/IEC 15288, CENELEC EN 50126/50128/50129 compliance.
• Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) procedures.
• Requirements, interface and configuration management.
• Risk management and RAMS methodology.
• Root‑cause analysis and corrective‑action implementation.
• Technical documentation: ICDs, specifications, engineering drawings.
