Job description

About the role

The Controls & Governance Lead will be the cornerstone of operational discipline, compliance, and accuracy across card products and related activities. Acting as the first line of control, this role safeguards processes, validates partner deliverables, and ensures the integrity of customer‑facing information and internal documentation. The position requires persistence, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to influence stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as the internal accountability point for governance within the cards team, ensuring strict adherence to standards and procedures.
  • Review partner and vendor reports to validate compliance with regulatory, contractual, and operational requirements.
  • Monitor contractual timelines, flag expiring agreements and coordinate timely renewals or closures.
  • Oversee telesales scripts and operations, ensuring accuracy and consistency with product documentation.
  • Ensure customer‑facing channels (websites, apps, etc.) present accurate, consistent, and up‑to‑date information.
  • Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for card business functions.
  • Audit marketing and product collateral to eliminate obsolete or conflicting content across digital and print touchpoints.
  • Review contracts, agreements, and business cases with precision before escalation to leadership.
  • Act as a trusted governance partner to the Head of Cards, supporting day‑to‑day oversight.
  • Collaborate with product managers, operations, telesales, and external vendors to align practices with compliance requirements.
  • Persuasively influence stakeholders to drive corrective actions, enforce accuracy, and close identified gaps.

Required profile

  • Fluency in English and Arabic.
  • 8–10 years of experience in governance, compliance, or documentation management, preferably within financial services or payment products.
  • Strong ability to review and interpret contracts, partner agreements, and operational reports.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a structured, methodical approach.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to persuade and follow through until closure.
  • Proactive, persistent personality capable of balancing control responsibilities with strong working relationships.
  • Comfortable working within card product teams and directly supporting senior leadership.
