Database Team Lead – Enterprise Data Platform

About the role

The Database Team Lead will drive the design, implementation and ongoing optimisation of the client’s enterprise database environment across Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata, DB2 and Big Data platforms. Reporting to senior technology management, the role combines deep hands‑on DBA expertise with proven leadership of multi‑disciplinary database teams in a banking context.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain the end‑to‑end database architecture roadmap aligned with the digital‑banking strategy.
• Lead the DBA team (Oracle, MS‑SQL, Teradata, DB2, Hadoop) delivering L1‑L3 support, incident resolution and SLA compliance.
• Own the Database Run‑Book – backup/recovery, patching, upgrades, capacity planning and performance‑tuning procedures.
• Ensure 100 % compliance with information‑security policies, data‑privacy regulations and Saudi Central Bank banking standards.
• Conduct regular health‑checks, optimise SQL/PLSQL code, index strategy and storage layout across all platforms.
• Implement automated monitoring and proactive alerting using tools such as OEM, SSMS and Teradata Viewpoint.
• Provide technical leadership for Informatica PowerCenter and other ETL tools, overseeing data‑integration pipelines and migration projects.
• Evaluate emerging database technologies (cloud‑native, NoSQL, Big Data) and develop business cases for adoption.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of hands‑on DBA experience across multiple platforms, preferably in the banking sector.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a diverse database team.
• Strong knowledge of banking data‑governance, security and regulatory requirements (e.g., C‑Bank, Basel II).
• Proven track record of delivering high‑availability, disaster‑recovery and performance‑tuning solutions.
• Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
