Decorator Operator – Can Decorating Machinery

About the role

The Decorator Operator works on high‑speed can decorating lines, ensuring metal cans receive accurate, high‑quality printing. You will operate, monitor and maintain the equipment to meet production schedules and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor high‑speed can decorating equipment, including feeders, coaters and ovens.
• Set up, adjust and change over machinery according to job orders and production specifications.
• Perform in‑process quality checks such as color matching, print registration and defect identification, making adjustments as needed.
• Troubleshoot minor mechanical or operational issues to minimise downtime.
• Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance on decorating machinery.
• Load and unload raw materials (ink, coatings, cans) and finished products.
• Record production data, including downtime, waste and output.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one month of experience operating machinery in a manufacturing or printing environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to read production specifications and perform basic troubleshooting.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and machine interface.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lb and work in noisy, hot or chemical‑exposed conditions.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
• Commitment to safety and quality standards.
