Design Engineer II

About the role

Fluor is seeking a Design Engineer II to lead civil design activities for in‑house projects. The role focuses on earthwork, grading, road and paving, and drainage systems while ensuring compliance with international and local standards.

Key responsibilities

• Apply international design codes such as AASHTO, ACI, API, ASTM, AWWA, NFPA, and PIP.
• Develop earthwork designs including rough and finish grading.
• Design geometric road layouts and paving specifications.
• Create site development plans, fencing, and gate layouts.
• Perform storm‑water, sanitary sewer, fire‑water, and evaporation‑pond hydraulic designs.
• Prepare scopes of work for geotechnical, topographic, and underground scanning surveys.
• Utilize drainage software (Civilstorm, SewerGem) and site‑grading tools (Civil 3D, OpenRoads).
• Produce design calculation reports, Basis of Design documents, and project specifications.
• Conduct 3D model reviews using Navisworks and SPR Squad, and review vendor drawings.
• Generate material take‑offs for construction.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 10 years of civil engineering experience in earthwork, grading, roads, and drainage within petrochemical, fertilizer, refining, oil or gas sectors.
• 5‑7 years with a recognized international FEED/EPC contractor.
• Proven experience in both FEED and detailed design for green‑field and brown‑field projects.
• Site or construction exposure is an asset.

Required skills

• Knowledge of AASHTO, ACI, API, ASTM, AWWA, NFPA, PIP standards.
• Proficiency with Civilstorm and SewerGem drainage software.
• Proficiency with Civil 3D and OpenRoads site‑grading software.
• Experience using Navisworks and SPR Squad for 3D model review.
