Director Portfolio Controls & Change Management

About the role

The Director Portfolio Controls & Change Management leads the development, implementation and governance of commercial controls, change management, reporting, cost systems and document control across a seven‑project portfolio. Reporting to the Executive Director, the role ensures accurate, timely performance data to support decision‑making at project, programme and executive levels.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain portfolio‑wide controls frameworks, governance processes and assurance mechanisms.
• Lead the preparation and delivery of monthly status reports, executive dashboards and portfolio performance reports.
• Consolidate cost, commercial and performance data into consistent portfolio‑level outputs.
• Act as custodian of portfolio cost data, change governance and document‑control standards.
• Collaborate with project delivery, finance, procurement, PMC, CMC and contractors to create a high‑performing controls environment.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on governance, automation and operational efficiency.
• Establish functional KPIs, monitor performance and promote a "no‑surprise" culture through proactive reporting.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in commercial controls, change management or project controls within a multi‑project environment.
• Strong analytical ability to interpret portfolio performance trends and provide strategic recommendations.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing internal and external partners.
• Track record of implementing governance frameworks and driving continuous improvement.
