Education Consultant – Climate Impact Assessment for Vanuatu Schools (24‑mo)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking an experienced education consultant to lead a climate impact assessment of schools in Vanuatu. The assignment supports the Ministry of Education and Training and the EU‑funded Climate‑Resilient School Systems programme over a 24‑month period, combining hybrid work with field travel.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct a structured assessment of climate impacts on school infrastructure and education service delivery.
• Develop a government‑usable methodology, tools and templates (including KoboToolbox surveys) for ongoing monitoring.
• Support implementation of school solarisation and resilience activities.
• Assist with financial transfers, liquidation processes and donor reporting.
• Design and deliver capacity‑building training for school committees, principals, teachers, provincial officers and community representatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in education planning, climate adaptation, disaster risk management, engineering, development studies, statistics, social sciences, inclusive education, psychology or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in education sector analysis, EMIS, education planning, climate resilience/DRR in education, quantitative methodology design and indicator development.
• Proven experience creating practical tools for government use (templates, SOPs, survey tools).
• Strong analytical and report‑writing skills.
• Experience in Pacific contexts, especially Vanuatu, is strongly preferred.
