Electrical Reliability Engineer – Power Systems Expert

About the role

The Electrical Reliability Engineer will lead initiatives to improve the reliability, availability and maintainability of plant electrical assets in Jubail. The role focuses on variable frequency drives, switchgear, transformers and protection relays while driving continuous improvement and technology adoption.

Key responsibilities

• Design, calculate, configure and test power system protection schemes.
• Perform load flow, short‑circuit, arc‑flash and ETAP STAR analyses using ETAP software.
• Maintain and optimise VFDs from ABB and Siemens, LV/MV/HV switchgear, and UPS/battery systems.
• Conduct transformer DGA analysis, partial discharge testing and thermography/ultrasound condition monitoring.
• Apply reliability engineering methods such as RCM and FMEA.
• Interpret electrical drawings, single‑line diagrams and protection schematics.
• Support hazardous‑area classification, cathodic protection basics and SAP/MERIDIUM APM data management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 12 years of electrical engineering experience in petrochemical or oil & gas environments.

Required skills

• ETAP power system software.
• Variable Frequency Drives (ABB ACS800/ACS880/ACS6000, Siemens).
• LV switchgear ABB MNS and ABB EMAX1 circuit breakers.
• MV & HV switchgear maintenance and reliability analysis.
• Transformer DGA and partial discharge analysis.
• Thermography, ultrasound and FLIR software for condition monitoring.
• UPS systems and battery charger maintenance.
• Synchronous motors and generators (brush and brushless).
• Reliability methodologies: RCM, FMEA.
• Reading electrical drawings (single‑line, protection schematics).
• Cathodic protection basics.
• Hazardous area classification and high‑explosive atmosphere installations.
• SAP and MERIDIUM APM.
