Gastroenterology Registrar (Telemedicine)

About the role

The Telemedicine Gastroenterology Registrar provides specialist care for patients with gastrointestinal and hepatology disorders using virtual platforms. Working under consultant supervision, the registrar combines clinical expertise with digital health tools to deliver safe, patient‑centred care in compliance with SCFHS and telemedicine regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct virtual consultations for GI conditions such as GERD, IBS, IBD follow‑up, fatty liver disease, and functional disorders.
• Review laboratory and imaging results remotely and adjust management plans.
• Identify red‑flag symptoms that require urgent in‑person assessment or hospital referral.
• Document all encounters accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Participate in telemedicine‑driven care pathways and quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge through CME, workshops, and academic activities.
• Support teaching and supervision of junior doctors when needed.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with completion of an Internal Medicine residency.
• SCFHS registration as a Registrar in Gastroenterology.
• Fellowship training in Gastroenterology.
• Strong interest or experience in telemedicine‑based care.
• Ability to work under consultant supervision and adhere to clinical governance standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Experience with telemedicine platforms (video, phone, secure messaging).
