Generator Technician

About the role

The Generator Technician will install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and test diesel and gas‑powered generators and their associated electrical and mechanical systems for Multi‑Tech’s telecom and IT projects.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electrical faults in generators, control panels, alternators and automatic transfer switches (ATS).
• Perform electrical testing, including insulation resistance and load bank tests, and commission generator electrical systems.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
• Inspect and maintain batteries, charging systems, sensors, relays and control circuits.
• Conduct preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance on diesel and gas generators, including engine, fuel, cooling, lubrication and exhaust systems.
• Replace mechanical components such as pumps, belts, hoses, filters, injectors and bearings, and carry out engine overhauls when required.
• Monitor generator performance, maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns, prepare service reports and coordinate with customers and technical staff.

Required profile

• Diploma or technical certification in Electrical, Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 2–5 years of hands‑on experience in generator maintenance and repair.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, alternators, control systems and ATS equipment.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
• Valid driver’s licence.
