Head of Procurement

About the role

The Head of Procurement leads the sourcing of direct and indirect materials to ensure reliable supply, on‑time delivery, quality compliance and cost optimisation for Sulzer’s production processes in Saudi Arabia.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee procurement of all direct and defined indirect materials for SSPC.
• Manage the local team of operational and category buyers.
• Align and challenge commodity strategies with category managers and senior management.
• Coordinate procurement optimisation activities across EMEA.
• Support purchasers in cost optimisation and procurement controlling for SSPC.
• Maintain supplier management and develop supplier relationships.
• Promote a culture of safety, environmental protection and continuous improvement.
• Ensure health, safety and welfare of the departmental workforce and compliance with safety systems.

Required profile

• Technical or commercial university degree.
• Significant experience in an international matrix organisation.
• Extensive management experience in procurement within an engineering company.
• Proven supply‑chain management and supplier development expertise.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to motivate teams, work in a matrix environment and drive results.
• High integrity, loyalty and strategic agility with a global mindset.
• Good interpersonal skills and decision‑making capability in complex settings.
