Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer

About the role

The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer will coordinate the organisation's HSE systems, identify hazards, assess risks and implement appropriate controls. The role supports management and employees in accident prevention and occupational health.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect sites regularly, advise teams on HSE Manual, Contamination Control Guidelines and client standards.
• Monitor workforce HSE performance, conduct random and planned inspections, and report unsafe conditions.
• Implement and maintain HSE standards, conduct audits, issue work permits, decide PPE requirements, and prepare Job Safety Analyses.
• Motivate employees to report hazards, unsafe acts, and near‑misses; develop corrective actions.
• Lead safety campaigns, toolbox talks, emergency drills and orientation programs.
• Ensure incident reporting, investigation and documentation according to company procedures.
• Review legal and contractual HSE obligations, attend client performance reviews and follow‑up on CAPAs.
• Coordinate procurement of safety equipment, first‑aid and firefighting appliances.
• Authorize work stoppage when imminent danger exists and maintain monthly HSE reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in safety or a related field.
• NEBOSH IGC or equivalent Level 3 health & safety certification.
• ISO 9001 internal auditor certification.
• Proven experience in HSE inspections, audits and incident investigation.
