HSE Manager – Site Based

About the role

The Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Manager – Site Based ensures that all site operations meet organisational safety standards, statutory regulations and environmental requirements. You will lead the development, implementation and monitoring of HSE policies to maintain a safe work environment and minimise risk across the project.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Mega project teams and stakeholders to align HSE expectations and best practices.
• Evaluate contractors' SH&E performance and ensure compliance with local, international and project‑specific regulations.
• Manage HSE arrangements against the AtkinsRéalis Management System and interface with client representatives on safety performance.
• Mentor field staff and subcontractors, promote a proactive safety culture and coordinate HSE efforts across multiple contractors.
• Lead HSE Engineers, oversee daily site safety visits, and ensure 24/7 HSE coverage.
• Conduct joint inspections, supervise emergency response teams, and organise HSE meetings and senior leadership walkthroughs.
• Review and approve contractor HSE plans, risk assessments and method statements before work commences.

Required profile

• Proven experience in HSE management within large‑scale construction or engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of local and international HSE regulations and industry best practices.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and influence contractors and subcontractors.
• Excellent communication and coaching skills to drive safety culture.

Required skills

• Risk assessment and method‑statement development.
• Incident investigation and corrective‑action management.
• Familiarity with HSE management systems (e.g., AtkinsRéalis Management System).
