Infection Prevention & Control Specialist – Dialysis

About the role

The Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) Specialist will lead the IPC program for a dialysis facility, ensuring compliance with national health regulations and international standards. This role protects patients, visitors, and staff by preventing healthcare‑associated infections and maintaining a safe care environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and regularly review the IPC program, annual plan, and policies based on risk assessments.
• Ensure compliance with Ministry of Health, GDIPC, Weqaya, CBAHI, and other applicable standards.
• Conduct infection surveillance, analyze data, identify trends, and recommend improvement initiatives.
• Prepare and present IPC performance reports to committees, leadership, and regulatory bodies.
• Perform IPC audits, environmental rounds, and risk assessments across clinical and support areas.
• Oversee hand hygiene, PPE use, isolation precautions, sharps safety, waste management, cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and safe injection practices.
• Investigate outbreaks and exposure incidents, coordinating corrective and preventive actions.
• Manage staff screening, immunizations, occupational exposure, and post‑exposure follow‑up.
• Provide IPC training, orientation, and technical guidance to multidisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or certification in infection control, public health, or a related field.
• Experience in infection prevention within a clinical or dialysis setting.
• Strong knowledge of national health regulations and international accreditation standards.
• Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
