Instrument Engineer – Control Systems & Instrumentation

About the role

We are seeking an Instrument Engineer to support the maintenance and reliability of control and instrumentation systems at our Yanbu plant. The role involves troubleshooting, coordinating with vendors for spares and services, and ensuring that all instrumentation operates safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Provide guidance and support for maintenance activities of control systems and instrumentation.
• Analyze performance of instrumentation, recommend improvements, and prepare reports.
• Develop and implement procedures for calibration, maintenance, and safety compliance.
• Witness and test newly installed control systems and instruments to verify vendor specifications.
• Coordinate with vendors to secure required spares and prevent downtime.
• Participate in technical evaluations for instrument replacement decisions.
• Record and analyze instrument failures, proposing long‑term remedial solutions.
• Conduct engineering analysis for complex process control issues, especially Yokogawa and Emerson systems.
• Review and contribute to SCADA, ESD, and cause‑and‑effect designs, and lead pre‑commissioning activities.
• Lead root‑cause investigations for DCS, PLC, ESD, compressor control, and field instrumentation.
• Prepare technical studies, reports, and documentation for all control system activities.

Required profile

• Background in instrumentation or control engineering.
• Experience maintaining plant control systems and instrumentation.
• Ability to develop procedures, conduct training, and work closely with operations teams.
• Strong analytical skills for failure analysis and continuous improvement.
