About the role
The Market Surveillance & Analysis Specialist is responsible for continuously monitoring financial market trading activities to ensure fairness, efficiency, and transparency. The role involves detecting, analysing, and building cases for potential market misconduct while producing analytical reports that safeguard market integrity.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor daily trading sessions and investment activities using advanced automated surveillance systems to detect unusual or anomalous patterns.
- Analyse order books, transaction flows and executed trades to verify compliance with financial rules and regulations.
- Conduct deep‑dive financial and technical analyses of suspected price manipulation, wash trading, spoofing, and insider information abuse.
- Reconstruct trading scenarios by gathering historical data and examining portfolio and account behaviours.
- Track movements in market indices, sectors and blue‑chip equities to identify drivers of volatility or abnormal volumes.
- Cross‑reference corporate announcements and news with trading activity to spot potential information leaks or front‑running.
- Draft comprehensive surveillance reports and escalate findings to legal or enforcement teams.
- Prepare periodic statistical reports on market trends, surveillance metrics and emerging regulatory risks.
- Contribute to calibrating and upgrading surveillance alerts and smart monitoring systems to reduce false positives.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics or a related quantitative/analytical discipline.
- 3‑8 years of progressive experience in market surveillance, market risk management, financial analysis or trading‑floor oversight.
- Strong knowledge of capital‑market regulations, listed‑company rules and the mechanics of equities, debt instruments and derivatives.
Required skills
- Advanced analytical ability to handle large, complex datasets (Big Data).
- Proficiency in analysing order books, transaction flows and trading behaviours.
