Nurse Unit Manager – Clinical Oversight & Leadership

About the role

The Nurse Unit Manager provides clinical oversight and administrative leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality patient care on the unit. This role coordinates nursing activities, supports staff development, and drives continuous improvement in patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee patient assessments, care plans, and treatment interventions to guarantee effective delivery of care.
• Supervise nursing staff and students, manage shift schedules, workloads, and provide preceptorship.
• Conduct purposeful rounding, interact with patients and staff, and address safety or quality concerns.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care with physicians, therapists, and social workers.
• Ensure accurate, timely documentation compliant with legal and regulatory standards.
• Manage unit operations including admissions, transfers, discharges, and maintenance requests.
• Lead emergency and crisis responses, collaborating with emergency services.
• Support staff education, performance evaluations, and continuous learning.
• Oversee medical supplies, equipment, and unit budget to control costs.
• Facilitate safety huddles, communication, and teamwork across departments.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with extensive clinical experience.
• Demonstrated leadership and decision‑making abilities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for staff coaching and interdisciplinary collaboration.
