OOW Engineering Watch DP

About the role

The OOW Engineering Watch DP is responsible for safe watch‑keeping and the control and maintenance of engine‑room mechanical and propulsion equipment on board Saipem vessels. The role ensures compliance with company policies, statutory regulations and IMO standards while supporting the vessel’s operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain safe and efficient operation of engine‑room machinery during watch periods.
• Control and monitor propulsion and auxiliary equipment, including cooling‑water, sanitary‑water and oil systems.
• Perform bunkering/off‑loading of fuel and oil, and support refuelling operations.
• Implement the Asset Management Operative System (AMOS) for equipment surveys, testing and maintenance.
• Act as Maintenance Supervisor (MS) or Ballast Control Operator (BOX) when required, in line with IMO resolution A.1079.
• Participate in the vessel emergency team and report unsafe conditions, near‑misses and incidents.
• Maintain engine logbooks, calculate R.O.B., and ensure MARPOL compliance to prevent pollution.

Required profile

• Valid STCW certificates and relevant maritime qualifications.
• Experience in OOW watch‑keeping and DP (Dynamic Positioning) engine‑room operations.
• Familiarity with company procedures, class regulations and statutory legislation.
• Ability to coordinate spare‑part ordering and support the 2nd Engineer DP.
