Sustaining Engineer – Product Reliability & Improvement

About the role

The Sustaining Engineer ensures product reliability, quality, and longevity after launch, focusing on mature products throughout their development and production lifecycle. The role involves troubleshooting, managing engineering changes, and supporting manufacturing to meet delivery and cost targets.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve manufacturing and customer‑reported issues, performing root‑cause analysis on component failures.
• Process engineering change orders (ECOs), update CAD models, drawings, and assembly procedures.
• Identify and qualify replacement parts to mitigate component obsolescence and ensure production continuity.
• Drive process improvements and cost‑reduction initiatives through design optimization and value engineering.
• Maintain and update technical documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOMs) and specifications.
• Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams as a technical liaison.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 2–5+ years of hands‑on experience in product design, sustaining, or similar engineering roles.
• Strong troubleshooting and root‑cause investigation abilities.
• Effective communication skills for interaction with suppliers and internal teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., CreoSE).
• Experience using PLM systems.
• Ability to perform engineering calculations.
