OSP and Fiber Trainer (Damascus)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced OSP and Fiber Trainer to deliver bilingual (English/Arabic) classroom and on‑site training for contractors, design, and inspection teams in Damascus. The role focuses on transferring best‑practice knowledge across all phases of Outside Plant fiber engineering, from civil works to optical testing.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct classroom and field training sessions covering excavation, trenching, ducting, backfilling, HDD, micro‑trenching, and trenchless methods.
• Demonstrate OSP cable installation, hauling, blowing/jetting, splicing, and jointing techniques on real projects.
• Teach optical network testing using OTDR, optical power meters, light sources, and inspection tools, interpreting results against acceptance criteria.
• Provide guidance on material specifications, passive component compliance, and quality‑control procedures.
• Create, update, and maintain training modules, slides, and handouts aligned with the latest standards and client guidelines.
• Develop assessment tools to verify competence and gather feedback for continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Telecommunications.
• 12+ years of industry experience, including at least 5 years in training and development within the OSP fiber domain.
• Proven expertise with OSP standards, regulations, and compliance (civil and fiber).
• Fluent spoken English and Arabic.
• Ability to work independently, travel nationwide for training, and handle confidential information responsibly.

Required skills

• OSP fiber engineering and civil construction methods (excavation, trenching, HDD, micro‑trenching).
• Cable installation, blowing/jetting, splicing, and jointing.
• Optical testing equipment: OTDR, optical power meter, light source, inspection tools.
• Standards: ISO/IEC 11801, IEC 60794, ITU‑T G‑series, ISO 45001.
• Knowledge of national OSH frameworks, road authority permits, and regulated work‑time restrictions.
• FOA (CFOT/CFOS) certification, OSH training, and train‑the‑trainer credentials are a plus.
