Refund Lead Auditor

About the role

The Refund Lead Auditor is responsible for overseeing the end‑to‑end audit of tax refund requests. This senior position ensures compliance with ZATCA regulations, evaluates refund eligibility, and guides audit teams through complex assessments.

Key responsibilities

• Review and update refund policies, limits, risk controls, and margins to align with ZATCA rules.
• Develop and maintain assessment templates and audit tools for efficient customer request analysis.
• Monitor industry developments across sectors (business, insurance, telecom, consumer goods) to incorporate new tax practices into audits.
• Consolidate, categorize, and prioritize refund requests, dispatching them to appropriate audit teams.
• Validate legal documents and supporting evidence before case assessment.
• Conduct desk‑audit activities, gather data, and liaise with stakeholders such as account managers, banks, and government entities.
• Research taxpayer business structures, financial statements, and revenue streams to determine appropriate assessment approaches.
• Identify high‑risk or non‑compliant cases, communicate findings, and recommend approval or rejection decisions based on eligibility criteria.
• Prepare and manage the development of comprehensive audit reports.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in tax audit or refund assessment, preferably within a regulatory environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial statements and benchmark industry data.
• In‑depth knowledge of ZATCA regulations, tax refund procedures, and related legal requirements.
• Proven ability to lead audit teams and manage complex, multi‑stakeholder projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
