Remote Node.js Software Engineer (Contractor)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced software engineer to work remotely on a part‑time contract (10‑12 hours per week). You will help train and evaluate next‑generation AI systems by tackling real‑world engineering tasks across backend, full‑stack, infrastructure, and systems domains. No prior AI experience is required; strong engineering judgment and clear technical communication are essential.

Key responsibilities

• Solve challenging engineering problems in backend, full‑stack, infrastructure, and systems projects.
• Review, debug, improve, and explain code in diverse technical environments.
• Design or evaluate solutions involving APIs, databases, services, integrations, testing, and deployment workflows.
• Identify trade‑offs related to scalability, maintainability, performance, reliability, security, and developer experience.
• Document technical reasoning in writing, outlining why solutions work and alternative options.
• Collaborate with the customer’s team on technical reviews, implementation decisions, and problem‑solving exercises.
• Adapt quickly to new codebases, frameworks, and technical requirements.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on software engineering experience.
• Strong experience in at least one backend or full‑stack environment (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java, C#, C++, Go, Ruby, PHP).
• Proven ability to build, maintain, or review production‑level applications, APIs, services, databases, or integrations.
• Deep understanding of software engineering fundamentals such as debugging, testing, code quality, architecture, and technical trade‑offs.
• Excellent written communication skills for explaining complex engineering decisions.
