Senior Director – Commercial (Sports BU)

About the role

The Senior Director – Commercial provides strategic leadership for all commercial activities across the Sports Business Unit (BU) of Qiddiya. Reporting to the Executive Director – Sports BU DMO, the role ensures alignment with QIC’s commercial strategy, procurement framework and governance standards, driving transparent and accountable decision‑making throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Lead commercial management for Sports BU assets from development through delivery.
• Align commercial activities with cost‑planning processes in partnership with Cost Planning and Development teams.
• Direct BU‑level cost control and support DFA in budget management.
• Oversee project financial performance, including costs, expenditures and revenue forecasts.
• Establish and monitor budgets, forecasts and cash‑flow in coordination with Project Commercial teams and DFA.
• Prepare commercial inputs for BU‑level reporting via the DMO reporting function.
• Ensure compliance with Qiddiya Investment Company procurement policies and manage engagement of consultants and contractors.
• Provide oversight of procurement strategies, tendering activities, bid evaluations and award recommendations.
• Draft, negotiate and execute major construction, consultancy and supply contracts.
• Administer contracts, including variations, claims and dispute resolution.
• Maintain robust governance and documentation for all contractual matters.
• Review change‑management submissions and support final contract close‑out.
• Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Participate in progress meetings, offering commercial and contractual insight.
• Contribute to Sports BU strategy, objectives and key initiatives while leading the commercial team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Control or a related commercial discipline.
• Minimum 20 years of experience in construction or sports development, including at least 5 years in a senior managerial role.
• Relevant professional certifications (e.g., RICS or equivalent) are desirable.
