Senior Lead Engineering Manager – Telecom Networks (Renewable Energy)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Lead Engineering Manager to provide technical leadership for telecommunications networks that support utility‑scale renewable energy and power transmission projects. You will oversee design, integration, commissioning and optimisation of telecom systems that enable secure, low‑latency control and data exchange across solar, wind, BESS and transmission assets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering and design of telecom architectures for power plants, substations and transmission networks.
• Specify and select fibre‑optic systems, multiplexers, Ethernet switches, GPS/GNSS and time‑synchronisation equipment.
• Define communication protocols (IEC 61850, IEC 60870‑5‑101/104, Modbus TCP/IP, GOOSE) and integrate with SCADA, RTU, PMU and protection relays.
• Design low‑latency, resilient networks with redundancy, fail‑over and cyber‑security compliance.
• Conduct factory acceptance testing, on‑site commissioning, fibre‑link certification, WAN verification and cyber‑security validation.
• Diagnose performance issues using packet capture and network analysis tools.

Required profile

• Extensive experience as a telecommunications or communications‑systems engineer in power‑generation or transmission environments.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams through full project lifecycles.
• Strong understanding of power‑system protection, control and SCADA requirements.
