Senior Legal Counsel – Contracts

About the role

The Legal Counsel – EPC & Project Development provides comprehensive legal support to Alfanar's EPC and project development businesses, focusing on renewable energy, power, water and infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia and abroad.

Key responsibilities

• Lead legal support for EPC and development tenders, including RFPs, contract reviews, risk registers and bid approvals.
• Draft, review and negotiate EPC, construction, turnkey, supply and O&M contracts using FIDIC and bespoke forms.
• Advise on risk allocation, guarantees, liquidated damages, warranties, insurance, suspension and termination.
• Support contract administration, variations, extensions of time, payments, commissioning and close‑out.
• Assist with project development, joint ventures, shareholders' agreements and PPP/IPP bids.
• Negotiate and review financing documents, loan agreements and security packages.
• Manage construction claims, disputes, arbitration and litigation, coordinating external counsel and experts.
• Provide regulatory advice on Saudi and international procurement, Saudization, licensing and foreign investment.

Required profile

• Bachelor degree in Law or Legal Assisting.
• 5–10 years of experience in EPC, construction and project development contracts.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to manage contractual risk.
• Independent decision‑making, negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills.
