Specialist Research & Development – Apparel Manufacturing

About the role

MUAF – Uniforms & Accessories Factory is seeking a full‑time Specialist Research & Development to join its Al Kharj site. The role will drive garment pattern creation, product feasibility studies, and manufacturing optimisation for military, tactical and civilian apparel.

Key responsibilities

• Develop basic and production‑ready patterns for jackets, trousers, shirts, coveralls and other garments.
• Use pattern‑making software to create, modify and optimise digital patterns and samples.
• Translate physical samples or design sketches into accurate garment patterns.
• Analyse samples, adjust patterns to resolve fit, construction and performance issues.
• Conduct product engineering studies, define sewing sequences, calculate SMV, estimate production targets and manpower needs.
• Collaborate with design, production, industrial engineering and quality teams to validate manufacturability and improve efficiency.
• Support sample development, product testing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation for product development and manufacturing processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Technology, Clothing & Textiles, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years experience in apparel R&D, pattern engineering or garment product development.
• Strong expertise in garment pattern making, construction and manufacturing processes.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
• Demonstrated accountability, collaboration, results‑orientation and problem‑solving abilities.
