Testing & Commissioning Engineer – HV/EHV Substations

About the role

Alfanar Engineering Services is looking for an experienced Testing & Commissioning Engineer to join its team in Saudi Arabia. You will be responsible for the testing and commissioning of high‑voltage (HV) and extra‑high‑voltage (EHV) substations, ensuring that all equipment operates safely and reliably.

Key responsibilities

• Perform testing and commissioning of HV/EHV substations ranging from 13.8 kV to 380 kV.
• Execute pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities for power transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear, circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches, current transformers (CTs) and voltage transformers (VTs/CVTs).
• Carry out protection relay testing, configuration, and validation, including primary and secondary injection testing.
• Conduct transformer testing such as transformer turns ratio (TTR), winding resistance, and insulation resistance measurements.
• Test and commission SCADA and communication systems, protection & control panels, and interlock schemes.
• Document test results, prepare commissioning reports, and ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards.

Required profile

• B.E. / B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in HV/EHV substation testing and commissioning.
• Proven experience with protection relay testing, SCADA systems, and transformer testing procedures.
