Workplace Health and Safety Officer (WHS)

About the role

The Site WHS Officer partners with the operations team at an Amazon delivery station to implement safety policies, ensure regulatory compliance, and create a safe working environment for associates. Using lean principles and kaizen methods, you will lead continuous‑improvement projects that reduce ergonomic and conditional risks.

Key responsibilities

• Provide guidance and oversight to guarantee compliance with Amazon WHS standards and local regulations.
• Measure site safety performance against published policies and develop corrective plans for any deficiencies.
• Deliver on‑time safety projects and support Operations Leaders in implementing WHS standards.
• Analyze safety metrics, review weekly and monthly incident trends, and allocate resources to high‑risk areas.
• Conduct incident investigations, ensure proper closure of corrective and preventive actions.
• Perform site safety audits, ergonomic assessments, and risk assessments.
• Train and coach Operations Leaders on WHS policies and best practices.
• Identify and integrate best‑practice methodologies into site standards.
• Work flexible shifts as required.

Required profile

• At least 1 month of experience in workplace health and safety or a related field.
• Strong understanding of local and regional safety regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to build trust with operations teams and inspire change.
• Flexibility to work in shifts.
• NEBOSH National General Certificate preferred.
