Yard Supervisor

About the role

The Yard Supervisor is responsible for planning and overseeing all yard operations to maximise productivity while controlling costs. The role ensures that all activities comply with quality, safety and customer standards, coordinating closely with other departments to maintain smooth terminal flow.

Key responsibilities

• Lead yard operations for each shift, supervising staff and equipment usage.
• Coordinate land‑side activities, including loading and discharging of containers.
• Assign operators based on operational requirements and monitor performance.
• Ensure compliance with terminal policies, legislative regulations, safety procedures and customer requirements.
• Identify and address unsafe actions, prevent yard congestion and equipment conflicts.
• Manage equipment utilisation, respond to breakdowns, and minimise operational delays.
• Work with Examination and Planning to schedule container movements and optimise storage utilisation.
• Conduct regular process checks and support performance‑improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with Technical, Maintenance and other departments for equipment upkeep and smooth operations.

Required profile

• 5‑6 years of experience in container terminal operations or container planning.
• Graduate or bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Proven ability to manage and develop teams.
• Strong communication skills.
