Assistant Consultant – Pediatric Hematology & Oncology (Stem Cell Transplant)

About the role

The Assistant Consultant will support senior consultants in delivering comprehensive care for children with hematologic and oncologic conditions, including stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy. The role involves direct patient management, supervision of trainees, and participation in research and academic activities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist consultants in clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of pediatric hematology/oncology patients.
• Document patient histories, conduct examinations, and record treatment plans and progress notes.
• Provide on‑call coverage on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Participate in ward rounds, specialty clinics, and outpatient follow‑up.
• Supervise and train interns, residents, and fellows at the bedside.
• Engage in clinical, basic, and translational research projects and contribute to publications.
• Undertake administrative duties assigned by the department head and serve on institutional committees.

Required profile

• Medical degree with appropriate licensing to practice.
• Experience or training in pediatric hematology, oncology, or stem cell transplantation.
• Ability to work on‑call and manage acute clinical situations.
• Commitment to teaching and supervising junior medical staff.
• Willingness to participate in research and departmental initiatives.
