Assistant Driller

About the role

Saudi Gold Refinery is looking for an Assistant Driller to support exploration drilling operations in Riyadh. The role involves operating and maintaining drilling rigs in remote locations while ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and accurate sample collection for gold deposit identification.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Driller in controlling drawworks, rotary table and mud pumps to achieve target depths and angles.
• Perform daily inspections, lubrication and preventive maintenance of engines, hydraulics and structural components.
• Enforce permit‑to‑work and lockout/tagout procedures and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Handle drill cuttings and core samples, label and store them securely for geological analysis.
• Supervise roustabouts in safe handling of pipes and heavy materials and provide on‑the‑job training.
• Maintain detailed daily logs of drilling progress, fuel consumption and maintenance activities for the Exploration Manager.
• Coordinate with camp staff to ensure availability of water, fuel and drilling mud.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with mechanical maintenance of drilling equipment.
• Ability to work in remote field conditions and adhere to strict safety standards.
• Capability to supervise and train crew members on rig operations.
