Building Systems Operator

About the role

The Building Systems Operator is responsible for 24/7 monitoring and control of all campus operational systems at KAUST. The role ensures reliable performance of automation, power, lighting, lab, gas monitoring and fire detection systems while supporting energy efficiency initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control Integrated Campus Automation System (ICAS), Building Automation System (BAS), Power Monitoring System (PMS), Lighting Control System (LiCS), Lab Control System (LCS), Toxic Gas Monitoring (TGM) and Fire Detection Alarm System (FDAS) around the clock.
• Report critical alarms to helpdesk and management and follow up on resolution.
• Coordinate preventive and reactive maintenance with the maintenance team.
• Investigate root causes of operational issues and implement corrective actions.
• Schedule and manage AHUs, FCUs, VAVs, SAVs and lighting systems.
• Develop and implement energy‑saving ideas and monitor energy and water consumption.
• Handle emergency escalations for power, CHW, fire alarm and water outages.
• Participate in HAZOP studies related to campus systems.
• Drive continuous process improvements to enhance operational effectiveness.
• Ensure all activities comply with KAUST standards and regulations.

Required profile

• Diploma or Associate Degree in Industrial Plants Operations or equivalent.
• 2–4 years of experience in plants, factories or utilities operations.
