Cost Accountant

About the role

The Cost Accountant will track, analyse and manage cost expenditures and purchases to ensure profitability. You will provide detailed cost reports, support budgeting and forecasting, and help improve cost efficiency across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, monitor and update standard costs for materials, labour and overhead.
• Analyse cost variances by comparing actual costs to standards and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare detailed cost analysis reports to aid management decision‑making.
• Collaborate with finance and operations teams to prepare annual budgets and cost forecasts.
• Monitor inventory levels, value inventory accurately and assess turnover impact on cost performance.
• Generate periodic cost reports highlighting cost behaviour, profit margins and improvement areas.
• Ensure cost‑related processes comply with company policies and financial regulations, conducting internal audits as needed.
• Maintain well‑documented costing records and support year‑end financial statement preparation.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in cost accounting or a related finance role.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to investigate cost variances.
• Good understanding of budgeting, forecasting and inventory valuation.
• Attention to detail and ability to produce accurate financial reports.
